Job Description

We are looking for a combined role of data engineer and data scientist that will help us discover the information embedded in our data. In your data engineer capacity, you will use various methods to ingest and transform raw data from various databases into the company’s cloud infrastructure. In your data scientist capacity, your primary focus will be in applying established and new data mining techniques, doing statistical analyses, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our products.

This is a full-time role for the company’s branch located in Maroussi.

Responsibilities

Data Engineer role

Analyze and organize raw data
Build data ingestion systems and pipelines
Engineer data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
Explore ways to enhance data quality at source

Data SCIENTIST role

Identify valuable data sources
Do ad-hoc analyses/pilots for various business functions
Form and test hypotheses regarding your datasets
Perform exploratory data analysis
Build predictive models and ML algorithms
Combine models using ensemble methods
Present information using data vizualization techniques
Collaborate with engineering and product development teams

Requirements and skills

Excellent knowledge of (required skills):

Data science principles, techniques and algorithms, both for supervised and unsupervised learning (such as k-NN, Naïve Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, Regression, etc.)
Applied statistics (Hypothesis testing, Regression, etc.)
Statistical programming languages: R and Python

Very good knowledge of (required skills):

Query languages; SQL is a must
Cloud data engineering techstack (AWS S3, AWS Glue, AWS Glue DataBrew, Crawler, AWS Catalog, AWS Athena)

Proven-familiarity with:

Java or C++ is an asset (at least university project or internship)
NoSQL databases (at least university project or internship)
PowerBI or AWS QuickSight (at least university project or internship)

General/ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or Applied Statistics (required)
Extremely strong problem-solving skills and attitude (required)
Very good knowledge of Greek and English (required)
Good communication skills and down-to-earth attitude (required)
Data engineering and/or data science certification (e.g. Coursera Data Science Specialization) (preferred)
1-2 year professional experience in a relevant role independent of the industry (preferred)
