Engineer/Designer Mechanical Components

The Engineer/Designer, Mechanical Components will be responsible, within Subsystem platform, to standardize mechanical components including fasteners, cleats, pipes and all other components and accessories utilized in the design of a train.

The main purpose of this position is to contribute to the creation and to maintaining the BT Standard Parts Libraries within an international team and to assure a successful implementation of the standard mechanical components in all bids up to Conceptual Design Phase across BT worldwide in accordance with subsystem platforms requirements.

In your role you will:

  • Provide Regional input and expertise for the technical roadmap, including mid and long term roadmap for mechanical (C) components, targeting optimized design to value and risk avoidance, based on the vehicle platforms requirements;
  • Develop, maintain and update Standard Mechanical Parts Libraries in BTs tool landscape;
  • Provide the technical interface with Strategic Suppliers;
  • Implement Standard Parts Libraries into platforms, bids and in projects up to closure of conceptual design phase;
  • Review project design guidelines and Process Review Check list;
  • Support the Design Reviews and approve / reject deviations to standard Parts Libraries;
  • Collect, provide, update and maintain inputs for mechanical design guide lines;
  • Collect Best Practices and Lessons Learned related to his/her related responsibility;
  • Provide technical expertise, share and communicate this expertise between the members of the BT Mechanical Components Community;
  • Continuously develop his/her own technical skills in his/her technical domain;
  • Develop external networks through normative standardization(legislations/standards) for BT strategic development direction, innovation and technology watch.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate, you possess:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Level expertise within technical competency area;
  • Experienced as a designer in a development(s) project(s);
  • Good knowledge of BT tools, methods and processes;
  • Proficient in English and French (spoken and written).
