Purpose of the Position

The Operational Analysis & Technology Centre in UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen is seeking a Senior Programmer Assistant (SAP ABAP Senior Developer) at the GS-7 level

Under the general guidance of the Systems Analyst, the Senior Programmer Assistant (post no. 71452) develops, maintains, tests and implements reports, SAP scripts and utilities using ABAP and related development tools in UNICEF's implementation of SAP (VISION).

This position will also be providing user support in SAP Logistics Application area of VISION primarily for Copenhagen and on an as needed basis for UNICEF field offices globally. This includes first and second level functional support to users, develop customized SAP reports, communicate user related issues & resolutions to VISION focal points.

Key Expected Results

  • Design, code and unit test SAP development objects within Logistics application area.
  • Develop custom reports, SAPscript/PDF forms and utilities as per business requirements.
  • Prepare clear technical program documentation for in-house developed programs.
  • Recommend standard SAP reports to the meet requirements for supply operations.
  • Provide reliable and satisfactory user support of VISION system resulting in smooth supply operations in Copenhagen and field offices.
  • Assist the Systems Analyst through the software development activities related to Supply chain processes.
  • Co-ordinate user testing of new functionality and future upgrades to VISION.
  • Provides training to Supply Division users on existing and new functionality in VISION
  • Develops and maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills in relevant areas related to supply chain processes and CRM, given the adequate training and tools.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or centre Chief.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Education

  • A University degree in Computer Science or Business Administration.

Work Experience

  • 7 years of progressive experience in providing IT systems support, including min 2 years of SAP experience in requirements gathering, design, develop and testing of reports, document printouts and utilities using ABAP and related development tools.
  • Experience in developing and documenting system level test cases relating to business processes for unit and integration testing is required.
  • Experience with Business Warehouse/Business Intelligence tools will be an asset.
  • Technical Competencies & Languages: Fluency in English. Working knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Sales & Distribution, Material Management modules of the SAP system is required.
  • Excellent skills in ABAP programming are required. Understanding of JAVA concepts is desirable.
  • Knowledge of E-Business concepts and ability to correlate with various E-Business technologies is desirable.
  • Knowledge of supply chain applications desirable.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and various office automation applications required.
