USA : Postdoctoral Fellowship in Probability

The Department of Statistics at Rice University in Houston, TX invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Probability and/or Applied Probability to join our growing applied probability community. The position begins on August 1st, 2015, although a July 1st appointment date can also be negotiated. The initial contract is for one year, with renewal (based on satisfactory performance) for up to two additional years. Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science prior to the date of appointment.

 

Strong preference will be given to candidates whose research interests are either in stochastic optimization and stochastic control, stochastic calculus for applications in financial mathematics, optimal stopping time theory, and/or convexity/linear programming approaches for working with martingales.

 

The post-doctoral fellowship is a 100% research position. There are no teaching responsibilities. This being said, the ability to both present and to effectively convey research ideas is critical.
