Postdoctor in finite-element modelling of light-emitting electrochemical cells

At Linköping University we embrace innovative thinking. Constantly challenging ourselves has been our strongest motivator ever since we opened our doors in 1975. We are driven by seeking answers beyond the traditional and across subject boundaries. If you are too, we would like to see you at our university. Together we can find solutions to the challenges of the day.

The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Research, the predominant activity, is often done in collaboration with corporate and international partners. We are one of the university’s largest, oldest and most well known departments, encompassing five interacting scientific fields: biology, chemistry, material physics, applied physics and theory and modelling.

LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY
Hereby advertises a position as

Postdoctor in finite-element modelling of light-emitting electrochemical cells
formally based at the Transport and Separations group, Division of Surface Physics and Chemistry within the department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM)

Duties
A Postdoctor will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.

We seek a postdoctoral researcher to perform (primarily) theoretical work towards understanding the operation and design requirements for polymer light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs).  This work will be performed as part of a larger interdisciplinary project (“Large-area light emission on the roll”).  This project will involve considerable modelling work, including finite element simulation of the ion and electron transport in devices.  This project will be performed in close collaboration with one of the world’s leading research groups in LECs at Umeå University, and the electrical engineering department here at LiU.

Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science or Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field obtained within the previous 4 years (earlier if official leave for childcare, etc. can be documented).

Documented skills and previous experience working with modelling and simulations, particularly with applications to device physics and/or polymer electronics will be considered a merit.

Appointment time
A Postdoctor is appointed until further notice, but for no longer than two years. The appointment can be renewed if there are special reasons.

Starting date
By agreement/as soon as possible

Salary
The University applies individual salary scales adapted to the experience of the employee and to the labour market.
