The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, Department of Production and Quality Engineering, has an open position for a post-doctoral fellow. 
The position is administratively connected to the Department of Production and Quality Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The department currently has 12 professors, 7 associate professors, 5 adjunct professors, 4 postdoctoral fellows and about 30 research fellows.

Description

This post-doctoral position is in the RAMS group, as part of a collaboration project with the Road Administration in Norway. The position is also partly funded by the same organization. The main focus is on new insights related to RAMS management for fjord crossings along coastal routes (bridges). More precisely, the aim is to develop new models to optimize the maintenance actions and the inspection programs of systems to be installed as part of the Ferry-free E39 project. Such developments will be part of the whole design process, and will have to give relevant inputs for new technology qualification steps. It is also the aim that this position shall investigate new research opportunities in the intersection of structural reliability and systems reliability.

The appointment is for 2 years.

Salaries etc.:
Post doctors are remunerated in code 1352, and are usually remunerated at wage level 57, gross NOK 482 800 per annum (before tax). There will be a 2 % deduction to The Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross wage. Normal wage level for Postdoc is 57 – 62.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants.

The Department is responsible for research and teaching in the fields of manufacturing systems (including machine tools, manufacturing processes, and automation), production management (including planning and control, lean production logistics, supply chain management, production strategy and application of ICT), project and quality management (including project management and quality engineering, process improvement and benchmarking) and RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety).
