Information Systems Specialist

The Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) is an international research institute in Helsinki focusing on human genomics and personalised medicine.  FIMM integrates molecular medicine research, technology centre and biobanking infrastructures “under one roof” and thereby promotes translational research and adoption of personalised medicine in health care.

FIMM researchers are involved in several grand challenge projects, such as the impact of genome information on personalised health and medical interventions, development of individualised cancer medicine, and novel diagnostics via imaging of tissue and cells.

Senior web developer

We are looking for a Senior Web Developer to join our team to develop responsive and high quality web user interfaces for next generation research, wellness and health applications using state of the art tools such as HTML5, AngularJS and NoSQL databases.

The primary activities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Create specialized web application front ends for different user groups and purposes and related REST APIs and ops dashboards.
  • Contribute to the full stack development and participating in design, testing, documentation, deployment and maintenance.

Qualification and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience with IT systems and services
  • Experience in software development projects (programming, testing, design and documentation)
  • Fluent spoken and written Finnish and English
  • Recent work experience in web development and JavaScript
  • Experience in building and using RESTful APIs
  • Strong experience and knowledge with a variety of web platforms and services
  • Understanding and experience of cloud computing tools
  • Capability to solve issues quickly under stress
  • Good interpersonal skills

Desirable skills

Experience in middleware, modern database technologies (relational and NoSQL) and visualization tools for Big Data is valued. This role requires excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously either individually on self-directed projects or collaborating on project teams. Salary and contract

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience based on the university salary system. A contract will be offered initially for one year. Extension beyond one year is possible depending on the availability of funding. If possible, provide links to the web applications that you have developed.
