Grenoble, France

The ESRF is a multinational research institute, situated in Grenoble, France and financed by 21 countries mostly European. It operates a powerful synchrotron X-ray source with some 30 beamlines (instruments) covering a wide range of scientific research in fields such as biology and medicine, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, materials and surface science, and physics. The ESRF employs about 600 staff and is organized as a French société civile.

Within the Instrumentation Services and Development Division, the Detector & Electronics Group is now seeking to recruit a: Detector Electronics or Microelectronics Engineer (m/f), Permanent position.

In this context, your role will be to:

  • Evaluate, select and conceive novel detector readout schemes to be implemented in the front-end of the new detectors;
  • Ensure the main liaison with our microelectronics partners;
  • Participate in design decisions for the future readout circuits, CMOS asics and image sensors that will be required for the new detectors;
  • Participate actively in the design of the overall readout systems as well as in the implementation of the electronics and functional characterisation of the front-end modules that will include the microelectronic devices developed during the various projects in the programme.
