Responsibilities and Tasks

We are currently looking for a Principal Telecoms Engineer to join the EPma stage of the Johan Sverdrup Development. This role is to provide Management assistance for Telecoms discipline as part of the EPma contract for the Drilling platform. The assignment location will be in London area.

Duties include:

  • Carry out work in accordance with Company’s requirements for Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems;
  • Oversee all Telecoms activities of DP EP Contractor and ensure compliance with JS EPma Project Telecoms requirements;
  • Provide Management Assistance services. This includes coordination with Client, handling Telecoms interface clarifications with contractors, overseeing Telecoms technical matters and their compliance with Project requirements;
  • Work in close cooperation with Field Engineering team and supplier(s);
  • Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication, and commissioning issues;
  • Ensure that Telecoms engineering design comply with the relevant standards and procedures;
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope;
  • Provide mentoring and coaching;
  • Coordination with other disciplines for any design issues;
  • Work with Line Manager to improve engineering methods and standards;
  • Responsibility for the performance of others within their team;
  • Provide engineering and technical direction of design personnel;
  • Coordination with other disciplines for any design issues;
  • Provide technical oversight over junior/intermediate staff and team of engineers/designers;
  • Raise technical deviations or queries; liaise with client to resolve queries;
  • Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project;
  • Review and check work output of discipline assigned personnel as required.

Qualifications and Personal Qualities

Qualifications:

  • BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc degree in Instrumentation & control or equivalent;
  • Chartered Engineer status.

Experience:

  • 15 years or more in Oil and Gas industry, preferably in offshore;
  • Knowledge of NORSOK standards/Statoil TRs.
