Business Process Analyst

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Financial Control Directorate (FC) – Financial Reporting Division (FRD) at its headquarters inLuxembourg, a:

 

Business Process Analyst

 

The term of this contract will be 4 years

The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs,

with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.

  

Purpose

The successful candidate will contribute to developing, supporting and managing the Bank's applications' processes in the area of accounting and reporting activities. S/he will evaluate the impact of the introduction of new products and/or financial projects in order to formulate a specific proposal for any necessary modifications to the accounting set up and processes to perform further general follow-up tasks in relation to the development and maintenance of existing application and procedures of the Directorate 

 

Specific post Environment

The job operates within the Financial Control Division, mainly responsible for PeopleSoft financials, used for the accounting and reporting of the Bank's accounts (EIB Group and Third Party Mandates) under EU Accounting Directives and IFRS 

 

Operating Network

The Business Process Analyst will report to a Head of Unit/Head of Division and work mainly in autonomy, but at the same time in close co-operation with the entire Directorate 

 

Accountabilities

The Business Process Analyst works independently, seeking guidance on complex issues from

Senior Officers, the Head of Units or Head of Division, supports the establishment of principles, policies, procedures, processes and systems related to financial accounting

  • Support the establishment of principles, policies, procedures, processes and systems related to financial accounting
  • Contribute to the definition of the means necessary to implement the EIB accounting frameworks
  • Ensure the elaboration, production and on-going development of accounting reports and efficient usage of the systems related to financial accounting new applications landscape in close co-ordination and co-operation within FC and the concerned Directorates/Departments (eg. FI, IT, Personnel, etc)
  • Perform the necessary tasks for implementation and the on-going and functional maintenance of the related applications and their further development
  • Proactively participate in the development of accounting policies and procedures
  • Conduct and coordinate business analysis efforts in order to produce application specifications in line with the business needs and also ensure the implementation of necessary management tools
  • Coordinate the realisation of projects or initiatives of varying size making sure that the milestones are achieved
  • Provide specific advice and recommendations on complex issues in the functional areas covered by PeopleSoft in a proactive way in order to obtain optimal usage the application
  • Maintain relationships with other internal front and back office roles to enable efficient completion of the accounting processes
  • Review service contracts;  liaise and support negotiations with external service providers and vendors 

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in computer science, accounting or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years overall business process analysis experience gained within the financial sector
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, preferably supported by a certification
  • Very good functional knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials Good technical knowledge of the PeopleSoft architecture and tools (especially Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Travel Expenses, etc)
  • Understanding of financial sector front office applications and especially lending and treasury modules with preference from Wall Street Systems
  • Good knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in business process analysis and re-engineering would be an advantage
  • Understanding of service contracts; expertise and skills to manage external service providers and vendors
  • Excellent knowledge of English and French (*)

(*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in one of the two languages. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of the relevant language and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank's working languages.
