Project Engineering is a key value driver in APM Terminals. Our ability to design, engineer and construct a Port in a total integrated manner delivers real Value to APMT. We aim to continuously improve on the designs for a project in order to secure incremental value for APMT.
The key role of this position is to support all projects in the secure phase as well as lead and oversee the construction sites under implementation. This position reports into the Head of Project Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the on-site Heads of Construction, ensure delivery in line with the project’s scope and objectives.
- Responsible for setting standards, and project strategy in delivering the assets as certain as possible (time and money).
- Engage in close cooperation with Heads of Project Integration to manage critical construction dependencies that could affect the first commercial activity.
- Set standards on construction reporting, project controls and governance to ensure program is delivered in accordance with company objectives (certainty on time and budget).
- Implement Earned Value Management on global construction sites, supported by our project controls team.
- Oversee decision making processes on the construction projects.
- Standardize project controls / project procedures to manage the construction and delivery of equipment in a forward-looking manner.
- Ensure proper contract management standards are being deployed.
Who we are looking for
Experience:
- 20 + years of experience in a construction/project related environment;
- Extensive Project Management experience and exposure to Project Controls;
- The person should have managed large scale construction projects (> 1 billion USD) with multiple reports and with clear responsibility on achieving safety, time and budget targets;
- FIDIC knowledge and experience.
Skills:
- Has a strong understanding of Project Management build on a solid foundation of Technical Engineering skills;
- Is capable of motivating teams in order to achieve project success;
- Has strategic skills to determine drivers of players in the field and act accordingly;
- Is driven, self-motivating and result orientated;
- Owns high discipline – following through on actions and ensuring necessary documentation;
- High quality awareness and ability to work with constant care;
- Is sensitive to cultural diversity and experienced in a multicultural environment, in regard to employees, local authorities and other stakeholders;
- Experience with Project Controls software like PMWeb;
- Total understanding of WBS principles, estimating, planning and EV-management.
Education:
- MSc Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
