Structural Engineering Consultant

Following the continuing success of the Structural area of the team, we are looking for a Senior and/or Principal Structural Engineer to augment and enhance our section in the development and delivery of services relating to: life extension of semi submersibles, FPSOs, and fixed structures, supporting fatigue assessments for a range of structures, and to be the focal point for Structural Integrity for the four UK offices providing ARM services.

The core deliverables of the team, which are of particular relevance to this advertised position, include:

Perform advanced engineering analysis using SESAM and other packages; Execute or lead structural reassessments and asset life extension, relating to ageing or changes in the design premise; Promote the section towards internal and external markets; Participate in JIPs and Service Development projects; Engage in direct customer engagement; Qualify new technology under DNV RP A203; Manage projects between £50k and £1million value; Support colleagues in other UK, European and World-wide offices in their business and professional development.

Position Qualifications

Required qualifications and experience:

Academic degree corresponding to MSc. or PhD within Structural Engineering (or significant vocational experience of corresponding quality) Senior experience: Worked on structural design and/or analyses with the tools and techniques described herein, preferably with floating structures Delivered analysis with minimal support and instruction from colleagues Principal experience: Led and defined structural design and/or analyses utilising the tools and techniques described herein, preferably with floating structures Developed solutions to clients’ problems, from client engagement through to delivery Mentored individuals and developed competencies Experience in the application of FE methods, preferably using the DNV suite of software (SESAM) The following experience would be advantageous: Hydrodynamic analysis, fatigue analysis and redundancy assessment Structural reliability methods and/or fracture mechanics Subsea and floating structures: semisubmersibles, FPSOs, wells, templates Classification rules, industrial standards, design codes (DNV GL, ABS, LR, API, NORSOK, etc.) Project management skills or experience with small and medium sized projects
