Postdoctoral Scientist - Accelerator and Laser Physics

JOB DESCRIPTION

Universität Hamburg invites applications for three Postdoctoral Scientists (f/m) for accelerator and laser physics commencing on the next possible date.

The position is full-time and is remunerated at the 13 TV-L salary level.

This contract is originally intended for two years and can be extended. The short-term nature of this contract is based upon § 2 of the Academic Short-term Contract Act (WissZeitVG).

Tasks:
Duties include research in the EU synergy grant project: AXSIS - "Frontiers in Attosecond X-ray Science: Imaging and Spectroscopy"

Area(s) of responsibility:

  • Laser development for high-energy optical parametric amplifiers (OPCPAs) and THz generation
  • Design vacuum chambers for compact electron accelerators and X-ray sources
  • Diagnosis, control and software integration of laser systems
  • Cooperation with groups in electron and X-ray beam diagnostics

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge, abilities or experience
  • Experience with simulation, planning, setup and operation of high-energy optical parametric amplifiers (OPCPAs) and THz generation
  • Excellent knowledge regarding interaction between matter and short pulses
  • Excellent knowledge in non-linear optics
  • Excellent knowledge in frequency conversion and laser acceleration
  • Knowledge of software and control technologies
