6-Years Post-Doc Position in Polymer Chemistry

At the Institute of Polymer Chemistry of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, a six-years post-doc position is open from July 1st, 2015 (formally under the Kollektivvertrag der ArbeitnehmerInnen der Universitäten (collective treaty for employees) and the UG (Universities Act).

What we are expecting:

Highly motivated and competent candidates who have shown their superior commitment to science by a prior experimental doctoral thesis in chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical engineering or a closely related field. The candidate should have significant hands-on experience in the synthesis of monomers and polymers and their characterization. Experience with drug delivery and tissue engineering applications of polymers are preferred. Furthermore, advanced English presentation skills are expected of the applicants, as well as teaching experience in chemistry and/or polymer chemistry.

The candidates should have a strong publication record in quality peer-reviewed journals, demonstrated creative thinking, and have the ability to work and communicate in a team environment, as well as to use own initiative. Organizational, strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, a high degree of professional ethics, and an extraordinary commitment to science and to the institute’s tasks such as teaching, supervision of students, applying for further research funding, etc. are expected.

The minimum salary according to the collective treaty for employees in the occupation group is € 3.546,00 gross per month (14 times per year).
