Concept Manager Responsible for Materials and Components for Thermal Power Stations

Dong Energy

Skærbæk/Gentofte, Denmark

Areas of responsibility

As Concept Manager responsible for materials and components, you will be responsible for the early phases of projects requiring special knowledge of materials and components, eg lifetime extension projects. You will have the overall responsibility for planning and conducting expert evaluations of condition and then map the necessary scope for this and prepare investment estimates and time schedules. When the project is handed over to the executing organisation, you will be attached to this to ensure that consulting deliveries within your area of expertise will be specified and quality-assured.

In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating examinations of the impact of materials and components for changed operation of our plants, eg faster load changes, alternative fuels, more frequent start/stop, etc.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to:

  • provide operational support in connection with breakdowns, revisions and maintenance, including the preparation of inspection and replacement plans for materials and components
  • be responsible for our cross-organisational knowledge centre for materials and components
  • be Thermal Power's representative in relevant national and international collaborations on materials for thermal power stations and thereby ensure the transfer of new knowledge to the group
  • manage small project teams consisting of both internal colleagues and external consultants and handle the commercial and technical stakeholders in these
  • prepare accurate CAPEX, DEVEX and OPEX budgets and time schedules and shed light on safety aspects of both the design as well as operation of the various components.

In addition, you will be responsible for keeping up to date on the development of components, materials and manufacturing procedures for thermal power plants in order to optimally contribute to the development of our facilities.

Your profile

You have a relevant educational background, eg a master's degree in engineering or similar, and experience with one or more of the following areas of material technology: manufacturing, welding, corrosion as well as the associated code of standards.

Furthermore, you will have project management experience and an understanding of both the technical and commercial aspects of the projects. As we are working in a radically changing competitive market, it is important that you want to challenge current technical solutions.

The projects are often subject to a great deal of attention from many sides, and you will have many contacts across both the project and the line organisation and our commercial departments as well as among consultants, suppliers and authorities. It is therefore essential that you have good cooperation skills, are assertive and understand how to navigate the project efficiently in relation to the many different interests and factors to which it is subject.
