Manufacturing chemist or chemical engineer to pilot plant manufacture in API Development

To a newly established position in API Development we are seeking a manufacturing chemist or chemical engineer with a strong background within process chemistry, chemical manufacture and chemical unit operations. You will be working with development of new synthetic procedures for manufacturing of APIs and manufacturing of APIs for clinical studies.

About the department 
API Development is located at our headquarters in Ballerup, Denmark. We focus on process R&D of novel therapeutic molecules. We are responsible for all API related activities supporting our R&D portfolio, from identification of appropriate synthetic routes to supply of API material for pre-clinical as well as clinical trials. We work internationally with a lot of external API partners within all disciplines of process R&D and supply.

The department consists of two teams: an early stage API development team and a late stage API development team. You will be working in the late stage API development team. This team is responsible for development and optimization of chemical processes in large scale and responsible for manufacturing of API supporting pre-clinical studies and clinical trials.

A position with a broad selection of tasks

Your responsibilities will cover:

  • Daily operation of our pilot plant facility, including our SRO-system
  • Maintenance and house-keeping of our facility
  • Manufacture of APIs supporting LEO Pharma’s R&D portfolio
  • Supervision of processes and documentation
  • Bringing process chemistry from laboratory scale into pilot plant operation

Your profile
You have experience within process chemistry from both laboratory and manufacture at scale from a pilot plant facility. You are a responsible and motivated team player with a GMP mind-set and you enjoy working most of your time in the pilot plant solving practical challenges and you are capable of coming up with ideas for improvement of our working procedures.

Furthermore, you possess/you are:

  • a Bachelor/Master in chemical engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • a proactive, structured person with a flexible mind-set
  • a proven track record within process development, process scale up and GMP manufacture
  • a practical hands-on approach to organic chemistry and process chemistry
  • excellent co-operation and communication skills
