Denmark : PhD scholarship in Reconfigurable Microwave Filters

A 3-year PhD scholarship in reconfigurable microwave filters is available in the Electromagnetic group at DTU Electrical Engineering Responsibilities and tasks The PhD project seeks to develop reconfigurable microwave filters for signals with advanced modulation formats needed to meet the capacity demands in the order of 100-400 Gbit/s in optical communication systems.

The project is carried out in collaboration between DTU Electrical Engineering and DTU Photonics. The primary focus of the PhD project is to develop novel reconfigurable microwave filter concepts using monolithic technology, MEMS, ceramics with ferrite inserts or other tunable materials.

Qualifications 
Candidates should have a M.Sc. in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the M.Sc. in engineering. It is an advantage if the candidate has several of the following qualifications:

 

  • Experience in RF and microwave design;
  • Knowledge of integrated circuit (IC) techniques;
  • Basic knowledge of specific simulation software (ADS, HFSS, Cadence,)
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) as well as technical writing.

 

Approval and Enrolment
PhD scholarships are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general PhD programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

Assessment
The assessment of the applicants will be made by Associate Professor Tom K. Johansen and Associate Professor Vitaliy Zhurbenko.
