An exciting Post-doctoral fellowship in Human Computer Interaction

The Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design currently has a vacancy for a postdoctoral fellowship with focus on Human–Computer Interaction. The department is responsible for several study programmes, including three at bachelor level and two at master level. The department is a leading institution in the universal design of information and communication technology, and offers Europe’s first master’s degree programme in this subject area.

We have achieved good results and set high standards for the quality of our teaching and research activities and of the relevance of our programmes to working life. Tasks and responsibilities

  • Research and dissemination in the disciplinary field of Human-Computer Interaction/ Universal Design of Information and Communication Technologies. It is expected that the successful candidate will actively contribute to one or more of the ongoing or future projects of the research group.

Remuneration

Salary is set in accordance with the Norwegian State Salary Scale, job code 1352: Post-doctor wage scale 57- 70 (kr. 482 800 – 613 500).

Evaluation committee

As an applicant you will be assessed by an expert evaluation committee. The application must contain:

  • application, CV and copies of diplomas/certificatesa
  • list of scientific papers
  • up to 10 scientific publications, compiled and with a table of contents, which applicants wish to submit for consideration
  • a project description describing the research ideas related to the candidate’s research field, and a plan for carrying out the research. The submission is limited to 10 pages (font size 11), including everything (text, illustrations, reference list, etc. )

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

  • PhD in computer science/information technology. Applicants who are in the final stages of their PhD may be considered. Confirmation of completion of the PhD will be required before any fellowship can be awarded.Candidates with a PhD in another field and with long experience at a high level in Human-Computer Interaction/Universal Design of Information and Communication Technologies may, in exceptional cases, also be considered for the position.
  • You must have a proven record of high-level research and development in Human–Computer Interaction, interaction design, universal design of information and communication technology or related areas.


Assessment of applications will place emphasis on applicants’ academic production and on their competence in terms of dissemination. Practical/industry-related experience in the field is also desirable, and documented skills in entrepreneurship and innovation are an advantage.

You will be expected to participate actively in the research group in Universal Design of Information and Communication Technology at the Department of Computer Science.

The postdoctoral position will be financed for two years. General criteria for appointments to post-doctoral fellow are given in the Regulations concerning Appointment and Promotion to Teaching and Research Posts; see the Regulations.

Desired skills

  • We are seeking candidates who are motivated, dedicated, inquisitive, and are willing to develop their academic competence.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently and on their own initiative. They must possess good interpersonal skills and an interest in contributing to developing the research group in Universal Design of Information and Communication Technology.
  • Emphasis will be placed on applicants’ desire and ability to cooperate with colleagues and on personal suitability
  • A high level of proficiency in written and oral English is required.
