JOB DESCRIPTION

We seek a highly driven multilingual PhD Oil Researcher – Engineer who possesses a solid academic background with a PhD in Civil Engineering, MSc in Hydrotherapy Survey & Water Quality and a BSc in Hydrography.

We are currently developing Integrated Remote Sensing and GIS Procedures for Oil Spill Monitoring at Coastal Zone and investigating the impact of the oil spills on coast using hydrological data and remotely sensed data by different image processing methods and GIS.

Your duties:

  • To conduct research in the field of coastal oil pollution and its impacts on the coastal environment using different remote sensing techniques, survey questionnaires and Geography information system GIS
  • To develop and integrate remote sensing and GIS procedures for oil spill monitoring at Coastal Zone
  • To investigate the impact of the oil spills on the Libyan coast using hydrological data and remotely sensed data by different image processing methods and GIS
  • Future research plans are to build on current findings and to further develop models and tools in conjunction with government bodies and environment agencies
  • You hold a particular interest in hydrological and environmental planning to create an ICZM approach to managing oil spills of the coast using marine science.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A solid academic background with a PhD in Civil Engineering, MSc in Hydrotherapy Survey & Water Quality and a BSc in Hydrography.
  • Experience with Remote Sensing and GIS (Geography information system)
  • Experience with image processing and remote sensing applications analysis
  • Personally developed skills in remote sensing, and proficient in the following computer applications: Microsoft Office facilities, CorelDraw Graphics, Paint Shop Pro Photo, Image processing packages (including ERDAS Imagine, ENVI and ER Mapper) and GIS (including Arc GIS) packages.
  • Researcher Engineer in Level 1 Environmental Science (IT induction) and Level 2 Environmental Science image processing using ERDAS.
  • You can work independently, utilising a highly crafted ingenuity at resolving root cause problems, planning, reporting, exceptional time management and communication abilities.
