Load Engineer to Vattenfall

Vattenfall is Europe’s fifth largest electricity generator and the largest producer of heat. Vattenfall operates in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Benelux and in the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Investments in wind power is an important cornerstone to deliver our road map and we plan, build and own wind farms in six countries, onshore and offshore. Investment in biomass fuel is the key to further reduce the emissions.

For our Civil and Structural Engineering Department within Renewables we are looking for a Load Engineer, with experience from the wind sector. You should have strong competences within load simulation ready to take up tasks both in respect to develop in-house tools and to supply loads to our projects on- as well as offshore and continuously challenge the methodology, projects and common way of thinking.
You should have good programming skills and be willing and capable to “go into the engine room” of our load simulation tool. You will be working alongside our other load engineers and in close cooperation with our structural specialists.

The department is the solution provider to our projects across northern Europe and supports in all phases from early development to generation and ultimately decommissioning, therefore it is important that your can communicate and cooperate in a multinational context with many stakeholders.


Description of the position
• Supply site specific loads (ULS and FLS) to our projects based on simulations
• Supply high level input based on experience and high level assessments
• Conduct impact analysis from a loading perspective
• Optimize loads for our projects
• Further develop our simulation tool
• Implement controllers from OEM’s
• Trouble shooting in all project phases.
• Various R&D work related to load issues on turbine and substructure.
• Keep up to date on new developments in the civil engineering area of offshore wind.

Qualifications
• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc. Eng.)
• Experience from the wind energy sector – preferably offshore.
• Good analytical skills.
• Ability to translate technical detail into commercial impact.
• Good communication skills and master English in speech and writing

You have a high degree of self motivation with a flexible approach to work. You possess good interpersonal skills and you have an innovative mindset. You enjoy the specialist work and is  result-oriented in your work meeting required deadlines.

As our offshore projects are located various places across northern Europe some travel can be expected.
