Research assistant - PhD candidate

This DFG-funded research project is aimed at the development and experimental validation of methods for quantitative photoacoustic tomography of blood oxygen saturation. The work will involve the development of numerical models of photoacoustic signal generation, inversion methods, and their validation on data obtained from measurements in tissue phantoms and in small animal models. It is envisaged that the holder of the position will collaborate closely with Zuse Institut Berlin on the development of efficient inversion and image analysis tools. Other duties will include the occasional provision of technical support for broader preclinical imaging activities of the group and the management of the photoacoustic laboratories at Technische Universität Berlin and the Charité University Hospital. The research will involve collaborations with groups at the TU Berlin, University College London, and Freie Universität Berlin. A doctoral degree can be obtained as part of this project.
