The Engineering department (EN) has an opening for a surveyor who will be in charge of various tasks, in particular the metrology of all detectors at CERN. Functions

As a Survey Technician of the EN-MEF-SU section, you will be part of the team in charge of the metrology of the Physics Experiments.



In this role you will:



Ensure the maintenance of the geodetic networks in the experimental areas.

Ensure the metrology and the positioning of the LHC and non-LHC physics detectors.

Realize measurements at all stages of the production of the detector components from prototypes to installation in situ.

Realize the measurements related to the adjustment, the alignment and the positioning of the various components and detectors of the experiments according to the needs expressed by the responsible persons of the experiments.

After a training period, use data acquisition and data treatment survey software.

Write reports, relevant documentation and present the results to your colleagues.

After a training period, take responsibility of several survey works in experimental zones.

Give feedback to improve the survey field procedures, methods and software.

Qualification required

Higher technical diploma in the field of Survey or Topographical Technician diploma or equivalent in the domain of Survey and Geodesy.



*Please note that preference will be given to candidates with the above-mentioned qualifications: In principle consideration will not be given to applications from people with higher qualifications.
Experience and competencies



The experience required for this post is:



An initial experience in the domain of high accuracy geodetic metrology.



The technical competencies required for this post are:



Use of high accuracy survey instruments (theodolites, total stations, optical & digital levers).
Laser tracker measurements: basic use of the technology.
Laser scanning: basic use of instruments and software.
Use of Office software packages: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Visual Basic, .net.
Use of digital photogrammetry: would be an advantage.
Basic use of standard compensation software.
