Functions
Responding to alarms on production systems, most of them running Linux, in accordance with well-defined procedures.
Helping in diagnosing undocumented alarms.
Creating and maintaining documentation for the team.
Contributing to the automation of the System Administration procedures.
Organising hardware management in the CERN Computing Facilities.
Participating in scripting tasks and maintenance activities in the CERN Computing Facilities.
Qualification required
Higher technical diploma in the field of Computing, or equivalent.
The experience required for this post is:
Demonstrated experience of Linux or Windows system administration, including installation, log analysis, task automation and shell scripting.
Practical experience with one or more of Apache, Python, SQL and Perl would be a strong asset.
Some experience of Puppet, OpenStack or cloud computing would be an advantage.

The technical competencies required for this post are:
Programming/Software development: scripting (CGI, Perl, Shell, Python) and database queries.
Problem management: usage of a ticketing system.
System software administration: log extraction and investigation (SMART, IPMI), packages installation (rpm).
