Analog Integrated Circuit Designer Biomedical Applications

Your main task will be the implementation of novel analog IC building blocks that interface with biomedical sensors and achieve the best size/power/performance trade-off.

Description

Would you like to be a part of a team that develops unique instruments to facilitate better understanding of biology? For our world-wide customers, imec is creating instrumentation solutions that will have a big impact on understanding how biology works.
As a part of a world renowned team, you will be involved in the research & development of ultra low power electronics and microsystems. You will be exploring solutions to the instrumentation problems of life sciences applications together with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of neuroscientist, sensor experts, and process team.
Your main task will be the implementation of novel analog IC building blocks that interface with biomedical sensors and achieve the best size/power/performance trade-off. You will be challenged with beyond state-of-the-art specifications and expected to come up with novel architectures that have never been though before. You will be faced with major signal integrity challenges and expect to investigate solutions both using simulation tools and lab trials. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design of sensor interface circuits CMOS technology; instrumentation, trans-impedance, and switched capacitor amplifiers acquiring signals from variety of sensors.
- Design of filter topologies with minimal area and lowest possible power dissipation.
- Design of supporting building blocks – bandgap references and oscillators - for the functioning of a mixed-signal IC.
- Test and validation of Integrated circuits in lab environment.
- Close interaction with system architect to reflect application needs to component specifications.
- Support system design engineers to integrate your circuits into system prototypes.

You want to make a difference and you are looking for a challenge. You are self-driven and constantly exploring new opportunities. You benchmark your results with state of the art and explore new methodologies to go beyond.
- You have a PhD degree or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering.
- You have extensive knowledge on analog integrated circuit design.
- You have extensive experience on weak/strong inversion design.
- You have demonstrate the skill to design complete analog IC with successful functionality.
- Experience with sensor interface IC design is a plus.
- You are results driven and flexible to meet stringent deadlines with quality output.
Imec environment requires a good team player with competent communication and reporting skills.
Given the international character of imec a good knowledge of English is mandatory.
