Your tasks:
The key requirement for this role is to ensure that state-of-the-art market analysis is delivered in support of RWE Innogy’s commercial development and optimisation of Innogy’s revenue stream in all RWE Innogy markets. Your tasks will be:
- developing and maintaining a detailed understanding of the market framework and structure along with key price drivers in the form of a market fundamentals report for selected markets
- developing and maintaining a fundamental modelling of short-term price forecasts (1-3 years) for power and certificates
- providing expert opinions on the development of the long-term price curve for selected commodities in relevant Innogy markets
- developing and maintaining realistic and insightful market scenarios and assessing the potential impact of each scenario on the movement of market prices
- regular analysis of the accuracy and effectiveness of short-term price forecasts and recommendation of improvements
- monitoring, analysing and reporting forward price development across all relevant commodities in the relevant markets and contributing to the hedging strategy that should be applied in these markets
- providing support to Commercial Managers and other functions in analysing routes to market; structuring and negotiating necessary PPAs and developing green energy marketing concepts
- proactively looking for commercial opportunities across markets and technologies to create additional value for Innogy and the RWE Group
- providing technical leadership for Junior Market Analysts to ensure performance delivery and development of technical skills
Your profile:
- university degree in economics, finance, engineering/science or business administration and approx. 5-7 years of experience in the relevant related fields
- analytical thinking and the ability to synthesize large volumes of information
- in-depth knowledge of our core energy markets and their renewable support mechanisms
- experience in the development of power/green certificates and fundamental pricing models
- experience in the development of fundamental models using software as e.g. PLEXOS
- proven track record in development of commodity pricing models (power and certificates) and relevant cross-commodity fundamental knowledge
- experience with statistical models and statistical software, e.g. EViews, SPSS, SAS
- experience in cross-functional stakeholder management
- proficiency in English and a language of RWE Innogy core markets, fluency in German desired
- willingness to travel frequently across Europe
- knowledge of VBA and/or Access highly appreciated
- experience in power or commodity trading and project management clear advantage
