Job Description

Leading all activities for the process development of the final step in drug substance syntheses, allowing the scale up of the DS step, leading to material within the specifications and meeting all requirements for the DP preparation Within the pharmaceutical development, you will be responsible for the development of drug substance finishing steps / particle engineering design processes, internally as well as in collaboration with external partners.

This comprises all development stages from laboratory scale activities to transfer to Pharmaceutical Production in strong cooperation with chemical and pharmaceutical development. The successful applicant will take the lead in selected development and technical life cycle management projects in particle engineering, with particular emphasis on designing tailor-made particle properties by applying classical and novel methods of surface engineering and modification. In this endeavor, the successful applicant will strive for tailor-made solutions for innovative particulate products for pharmaceutical applications. Novel and second-generation processes will be developed, optimized, piloted, and eventually scaled to production scale in close collaboration with other development departments, in particular with chemical development, and chemical production. Minimum requirements

Highly skilled chemist, process/chemical engineer or materials engineer at Ph.D. level with a strong background in particle technology. Post-doc experience in a field relevant to the position or a few years of experience in an industrial setting, preferably in the design and scale-up of particulate processes as well as polymorphism, is a plus. Fluent English required.

  • Several years industry experience in the area of crystallization, filtration or drying
  • Adequate understanding of drug development processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory and/or technical tools.
  • Good knowledge of software and computer tools.
  • Proficient in literature searches.
  • Good presentation skills and scientific/technical writing skills
