The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture has a vacancy for a position of post-doctoral assistant, starting October 1, 2015. It concerns a temporary full-time position for a one-time renewable period of three years.

a position of post-doctoral assistant at the Department of Industrial Technology and Construction – salary at 100%: min. € 23 468,58 – max. € 39 716,10 (at present paid out at  160,84%)

Profile of the candidate

• hold a PhD in Engineering in Chemical Engineering or a degree recognized as equivalent (this requirement has to be fulfilled at the appointment date);
• have research experience in the discipline of industrial chemistry, more specifically in the field of industrial catalysis and adsorption technology;
• having actively participated in scientific publications in international and national peer reviewed journals and/or books;
• having actively participated in international and national scientific conferences relevant to the field concerned;
• be profoundly interested in guiding students in Bachelor’s and (advanced) Master’s programmes.

Job description

• to provide assistance in the teaching duties of the department;
• to conduct scientific research in the discipline of industrial catalysis and adsorption technology;
• to cooperate in setting up research project applications;
• to cooperate in the academic services of the department

(the total amount of academic and administrative duties will be limited to maximum 30% of the assignment).

The period during which the applicant received a grant from a University of the Flemish community for preparing a PhD, or during which he/she was employed as a junior assistant, will be deducted from the maximum term of appointment, which is 6 years according to the university decree.
