Description of the job
A vacancy for a Thermal Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. The successful applicant will join the Mechanical Systems department in charge of the mechanical, thermal and propulsion Major Satellite Components (MSC) on Earth Observation, Navigation and Science (ENS) satellites in France and will work on Earth Observation export and institutional programmes.
Within this context, you will support the Thermal Architect and be responsible for the thermal architecture and verification of the satellite and for the thermal hardware delivery to the project, in compliance with performance and quality requirements, as well as schedule and cost commitments.
With this aim, you will drive satellite thermal engineering activities and thermal hardware development in close contact with Central Engineering teams and will also interface with the customer and launcher authority as well as payload and equipment suppliers as needed.
You will be co-located within the project team and will report to the project system engineer and industrial manager and will also report to the thermal MPC authority.
Tasks & accountabilities
You will support the Thermal Architect in charge of the following project activities:
- Technical requirements consolidation
- Satellite thermal architecture
- Satellite thermal design lead
- Thermal hardware procurement
- Support for satellite integration
- Satellite thermal verification & testing
- Support for launch campaign
- Support for LEOP and in-orbit acceptance
- Schedule and cost control.
- You will also contribute to product policy implementation on the project and will contribute to thermal improvement activities and sharing of lessons learnt within the Thermal MSC team.
- This role will involve business travel (twice per year) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
Required skills
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent)
- first experience in product thermal design/test engineering
- Knowledge of thermal design, analysis, testing, and/ or operations
- Ideally experience in satellite thermal engineering
- Team spirit
- Good communication skills
- Reliability
- Synthesis skills
- Autonomy and anticipation
- Negotiation level of French and advanced level of English.
