PostDoc position Industrial Innovation Practices in Transition

Job description

This research position is part of the EU Horizon 2020 research project “Industrial Innovation in Transition / IIT”, which investigates the use of new innovation practices across a set of European countries and different industry sectors, and the challenges these may pose to traditional innovation policy instruments. The project includes a large-scale qualitative survey, case studies, and an analysis of innovation policies. You will in particular organize and conduct (part of) a series of qualitative interviews in Dutch and German companies, analyse interviews, contribute to building a conceptual framework, analyse innovation policies and develop a toolkit for reproducing the study. You will furthermore publish research results and coordinate your work with international partners: STePS, Twente, NL, is conducting the IIT project in a consortium with Aalto University, Finland (coordinator); University of Manchester, UK; Joanneum Research, Austria; Zabala Innovation Consulting, Spain.

Requirements

You have a PhD degree in a relevant field, such as innovation studies, innovation management, policy studies, or science and technology studies. You have experience in qualitative research and interviewing, experience in working in a project environment, and a track record of international peer reviewed journal publications. Experience on quantitative research methods is an asset. You are able to work both independently as well as in a project team, and you have good communicative skills for interacting with project partners and industry actors. You speak and write fluently in English, and speak Dutch and/or German.

Working conditions

The internationally oriented Department of Science, Technology and Policy Studies is renowned for its excellent research and has been evaluated accordingly. You will be appointed in a full-time position for a period of two years (38 hours a week), The salary depends on your experience and will be in the range of € 2476,- to € 3908,- per month in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
