PhD Position – Study of multilayer deposition compliant, biocompatible and biostable based on the stack of materials such as Al2O3, TiO2, Ta2O5, DLC, ZnO, IrO and Pt for active medical implants.

CEA-LETI develops electronic microsystems with high level of integration. Silicon 3D technology allow to reduce the volume of electronic functions in mobile systems. This high technology of miniaturization is perfectly suited to the needs of medical implants (ex. Pacemakers, neuro-stimulators), and devices used in minimally invasive surgery (eg. Catheters, probes). The study and development of biocompatible coatings become essential for biomedical and the use of such micro-electronic devices in silicon technology. A first study allowed to select a list of materials such as Al2O3, TiO2, Ta2O5, DLC, ZnO, Pt and IrO. However, multilayer compliant deposits, biocompatible and biostable based on the stack of these materials must be optimized taking into account the bio-active deposits and the research for a specific surface finish to be able to provide the expected performance: special treat implanted micro-systems and emerging applications: Advanced neurology, functional implants , smart prostheses, etc.
