The Bogie Equipment Systems Engineer is responsible for the mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and functional integration of the following bogie mounted / related systems:

  • Instability detection
  • Suspension surveillance
  • Hot axle box detection
  • Sanding
  • Wheel flange lubrication

He assures the interface with the Bogie System Engineers (Bogie Department) and he is responsible for the final performances as well as the reliability, maintenance and safety requirements of the bogie mounted / related systems in line with the customer requirements.

He also takes the responsibility for the automatic coupler system.

Working as a system engineer, you are responsible for:

  • Analyzing and evaluating customer specifications;
  • System performance calculations;
  • Writing of technical requirement documents and functional analyses;
  • Defining/following-up of budget and planning;
  • Estimating technical risks and defining mitigation plans;
  • Evaluating technical offers from suppliers, selecting suppliers;
  • Preparing and leading design reviews with the supplier, other departments and the customer;
  • Defining, managing and following-up all system interfaces;
  • Following-up system design and development at the supplier;
  • Preparing and following-up the System Test Program Plan;
  • Write test procedures for the system and supervise and coordinate type tests on car and train level;
  • Creating/supporting/verifying Maintenance and Operating Manuals;
  • Field support;
  • Analyzing faults and problems (functional, safety, reliability).

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have

  • over 5 years’ experience in a system engineer position for a railway solutions provider or in a related sector (aerospace, automotive, defense, naval);
  • a master or engineering diploma in Mechanical / Electromechanical Engineering;
  • a broad knowledge and experience in System Integration and System Architecture;
  • an experience of the design, analysis, development, testing and delivery of engineering solutions that solve complex requirements;
  • an ability to support other departments (engineering, production, procurement, projects) and the development of less experienced engineers;
  • excellent English & French communication skills (written and spoken); Dutch is a significant plus.
