Continuous Improvement Manager

AkzoNobel

Rotterdam, Netherlands

A challenging role for a true leader able to motivate others and achieve real change and improvement.

Are you a visionary with a strong desire for change and improvement, able to think 'out of the box'? Do you have demonstrable experience in L6S and change management projects? Could you act as the focal point for Continuous Improvement related initiatives, ensuring alignment and consistency? If so, you could be the ideal person to play a central role in a dynamic and far-reaching Continuous Improvement program.

AkzoNobel is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals. Calling on centuries of expertise, we supply industries and consumers worldwide with innovative products and sustainable technologies designed to meet the growing demands of our fast-changing planet.

AkzoNobel is currently implementing a cultural change across all its operations in order to increase our competitive strength, drive organic growth, increase customer satisfaction, boost employee engagement and sustainably improve our company's performance.

Continuous Improvement (CI) is central to this effort. It is the means by which we will move from ad hoc to follow procedures, from reactive to pro-active. It will drive the process by which we standardize and simplify key processes then embed these optimized processes in day to day operations and work ethics to ensure the future success of our organization.

In order to drive the ambitious and determined CI program within the BA Specialty Chemicals in Rotterdam, we currently seek an experienced and highly motivated Continuous Improvement Manager.

Your core function in this position is to install and lead the CI process - including the AkzoNobel Leading Performance System (ALPS) - at our Rotterdam site. You are a member of the Site Management team and this role will develop your change leadership and manufacturing excellence skills, helping you to grow into more senior management positions.

You will join a multinational and multicultural organization that is committed to your personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities and deliverables

Within this context you lead site-wide transformation and the CI deployment, guiding site leadership in project idea generation and chartering action planning and implementation. This involves coordinating the site Brown and Green Belt improvement projects, ensuring the tracking of benefits of local projects and driving to completion and/or closure, requesting more BB support when needed.

You also organize, define and conduct training for all site layers and organization, training operatores and managers in tools and standards and coaching and challenging senior operational managers.

To enable all this you implement the necessary support structures to ensure the sustainability of performance management and changes to site organization. Further, you conduct shop-floor activity analyses, interviews, data gathering and analysis and compile into improvement opportunities and impact.
