Topics of research works will cover areas in smart grids, healthcare systems, intelligent transportation systems, underwater sensors/monitoring, security, and/or multidisciplinary works in the areas of mechatronic (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, control engineering and computer engineering) with emphesize on sensor technologies and Internet of Things.

Fellowship covers a stipend of South African Rands 220,000 per year tax free together with round trip airline ticket (R20,000), Medical aid, all journal publication fee, Publication subsidy in impact factor journal might be considered under some conditions, one conference grant(that must be applied via South African National Research Foundation, a competitive application). Fellowship can be offered for two-year with two-month vacation leave per year.
