Description

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) is currently inviting applications for two positions of (Senior) Policy Advisor.

Purpose of the role

Support the Secretary General and Deputy Secretaries General and/or Head of Financial Stability in their work and to carry out such duties as might be assigned or delegated by them.

Principal accountabilities

The duties of those two (Senior) Policy Advisor positions may include some of the following:

  • Providing advice as well as organisational and administrative support for the IAIS ComFrame and Capital Standards Project, under which impact studies of all elements of the draft IAIS Common Framework for the Supervision of Internationally Active Insurance Groups ('ComFrame') are performed, including quantitative field testing contributing to the development of global capital standards ( www.iaisweb.org/News/Press-releases-51).
  • Providing assistance for the IAIS's data collection exercises (including Quantitative Impact Studies) through (a) involvement in the collection and management of data and (b) participating in the data analysis and preparation of reports to set out the results and conclusions.
  • Contributing to supporting the work of the IAIS Working Groups on:
  • Macroprudential Policy and Surveillance
  • Global Systemically Important Insurers Data Analysis
  • Resolution
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Secretary General, Deputy Secretaries General and/or Head of Financial Stability.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Appropriate professional or academic qualifications (preferably Masters) with relevant fields being (but not limited to): insurance, economics, accounting and/or actuarial science, computer science, data engineering
  • Extensive insurance supervisory and/or risk management knowledge and experience, particularly of group-wide supervision and/or operation of internationally active insurance groups, with also a knowledge of other financial sectors. Knowledge and experience on resolution framework is a plus
  • Good experience within an insurance supervisory agency and/or an insurance entity on actuarial or/and risk management work and on supervisory reporting
  • Ability to communicate effectively both internally with team members and externally to the Secretariat with insurance supervisors and representatives from national and other international organisations
  • Excellent drafting and editing skills in English
  • Good experience of managing and analysing data
  • Excellent capacity for organisational and administrative work
  • Ability to achieve maximum results on agreed projects and tasks
  • Ability to influence and reach agreement within a group
  • Excellent team player with enhanced intercultural skills
  • Fluency and accuracy in written and spoken English is indispensable. Knowledge of another international language is a plus
  • Enthusiasm, drive and energy to achieve objectives in a structured and transparent manner
  • Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly, effectively and harmoniously in a small team context to achieve the successful and on-time delivery of project objectives over an extended timeline
  • Capacity to work well in time-constrained and/or information-constrained circumstances
  • High ethical standards
  • Ability to sustain extensive travel
