Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering

The Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering is now accepting applications from outstanding UK/EU and International students to join our Faculty Doctoral Training Scheme.

The Faculty has 25 Doctoral Training Awards to the value of £500,000. Each award is:

  • Set at the fixed sum of £20,000 per year towards tuition fees and living costs
  • Available for a maximum of four years (£80,000)

Research Themes

If successful, you will be able to direct and shape your own research, developing original topics and problems into an individual PhD research project supported by our world-class supervisors. Successful candidates will be required to make a formal application through the University's Applicant Portal.

With a strong research culture, the Faculty provides the highest levels of research training to over 800 students spread across 10 academic Schools.

If successful you will join students from our 2014 recruitment round together with our two national Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded doctoral training centres.

Research training will be provided through our Postgraduate Skills Development Programme, designed to broaden your awareness of the research landscape and to support your transition from doctoral student to independent researcher.
