Job summary:

In this position, you are responsible for managing the Food Regulatory & Compliance Affairs for the EMEA & Global Travel Retail Godiva Business. You take the lead to guarantee an all-time food safety and you are responsible for ensuring that applicable food regulatory requirements (products and labels) are met for current and future product distribution in Europe, Japan, China, Russia, Middle East, and the United States of America amongst others. You will also manage the material validation program (including packaging material, ingredients and finished goods) and the product labelling development process. This role is a key position interacting with different players in the international arena, both internal (Innovation, Product Development, Procurement, Sales, Intercompany, Global Quality) and external (suppliers, customs, authorities, trade associations, food agencies). This is position is based in Brussels and reports to the Quality & Regulatory Director EMEA & Global Travel Retail.

Job description:

Ensuring that regulatory requirements, changes and Trade Association information related to food safety are tracked and communicated cross functionally for future implementation ▪ Owning the regulatory product compliance process for products developed in Brussels for future distribution in Europe, Japan, China, Russia, Middle East, and the United States of America amongst others ▪ Driving the approval of raw materials, packaging and finish goods specifications from a regulatory and food safety standpoint ▪ Guaranteeing the respect of the product labelling development process and the art-work approval process from a regulatory perspective for new products and existing portfolio ▪ Supervising the export and registration process and being responsible for dealing with objections from authorities and taking appropriate actions to get products released and to avoid recurring issue ▪ Managing a team of 2 to 3 Regulatory Associate while ensuring the development of processes and SOPs around these specific areas and competencies

Your profile:

Master degree in Food Engineering or related studies (Industrial Engineer Biochemistry, Chemistry) with a background in food chemistry and technology ▪ At least 10 years of relevant experience within the Food industry, 3 years in Regulatory Affairs and 5 years in people management. A broader quality or confectionary products range experience is an asset ▪ Expert in food additives, ingredients, and regulatory affairs considering food safety and labelling. Microbiological knowledge is an asset ▪ Excellent communication skills: active listening, showing empathy, ability to interact with people of different levels in a cross-functional and multi-cultural environment, negotiation skills, finding win-win solutions, presentation skills (written and oral) ▪ English fluency and good knowledge of French or Dutch mandatory ▪ Project management skills and process oriented ▪ Analytical thinking combined to a hands-on approach ▪ Assertiveness mixed with the right level of diplomacy ▪ Ability to balance multiple priorities and to show proactivity ▪ Result oriented with strong decision making capacities and problem solving skills ▪ People manager (motivator, coach, ability to empower) ▪ Customer oriented
