The job
The mission of ECN Wind Energy focusses on offshore wind power plants and in particular the reduction in cost of energy (CoE) of such plants. The activities range from R&D to contract research and troubleshooting. As a Project Manager Structural Engineering you play a pivot role in building bridges between customer needs and technical innovations.
Your responsibilities
As Project Manager Structural Engineering Wind Energy, you:
- contribute to reduce the cost of energy by developing and implementing ECN technical innovations and solutions;
- are in close contact with our clients, managing projects to add value for our clients in the field wind farm developers and operators, manufacturers and installers and policy and decision makers;
- perform aero-elastic analysis of wind turbines for design and optimization of offshore wind power plants;
- can clearly identify the pros and cons of several (innovative) technical options;
- co-operate with industrial partners and research institutes, both national and international;
- will manage multidisciplinary project teams, where you will contribute by performing applied research and reporting the results, focused on meeting the needs of ECN's clients;
- consult your colleagues (researchers) for more detailed technical matters;

Your profile
You have:
- an academic level in mechanical/structural engineering;
- experience with aero-elastic analysis of wind turbines or other industrial applications;
- good analytical skills;
- experience with project management;
- a relevant network, preferably in the wind energy sector;
- good command of the English language in speech and reporting,
- sound commercial awareness and strong persistence.
You are a dynamic and enthusiastic person. You are an initiator and able to perform your work in an independent way, while keeping focus on both the co-operation and the results within your projects. You have strong verbal and written communication skills and are able to present fluently in English and preferably in Dutch. As your playground is the world, frequent travelling is part of your job.
