Study, development and validation of predictive models of joining deformation for the three-dimensional GPS (Geometrical Product Specification) management on CAx (Computer-Aided technologies) platform in automotive assembly process.

The research deals with the study of deformations due to different technology for the automotive components assembly. Simulation models of joining deformation will be proposed. The data obtained will be used in an innovative methodology for the prediction of three dimensional tolerance stack using integrated tools (i.e. CAD, CAT, CAE, spreadsheets, etc.), in order to simulate and analyze the mechanical assemblies, focusing on: dimensional and geometrical variation; design specification; influence of parts, sub-assemblies and technologies. An experimental campaign will be performed to compare and validate the proposed models.
