The Chair of Electrical Drives and Machines, Department of Electrical-Electronic-Communication Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, invites applications for the following position, to be filled by 1 June 2015:

Laboratory Manager – Electrical drives and machines


The pay grade shall be determined according to TV-L.
The Chair has several laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment for operating electrical drive systems.


The Laboratory Manager's tasks include:

  • allocating laboratory spaces to students and staff
  • assisting students and staff when setting up their laboratory experiments and
  • choosing measuring devices
  • monitoring the market for new equipment and providing suggestions for new purchases
  • giving briefings on the function of measuring devices and how to use them
  • managing the equipment inventory
  • repairing laboratory equipment
  • co-ordinating setting up new experiments with the workshop.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Required qualifications:

  • appropriate laboratory technician training or qualification from a university of applied sciences in electronic engineering or mechatronics
  • experience working in electronic engineering laboratories
  • team skills
  • good co-operation with students and staff
  • ability to complete the tasks above independently
  • motivation to identify new tasks
