Programme Director ATLAS

Job description

The Programme Director is responsible for the quality of the programme in particular the appropriateness of the curriculum for achieving the learning objectives. The open curriculum of ATLAS is structured around themes and projects to stimulate the diverse population of ambitious and highly talented students to benefit optimally from each other’s strengths. The Programme Director takes the lead in keeping the programme up-to-date, and is responsible for the organisation of the curriculum and the quality assurance.

Responsibilities

He/she contributes to the further development of the University College and thus to the educational strategy of the University of Twente in general. Specific responsibilities are:

  • Further development and consolidation of the programme
  • Further development of the core team of teachers
  • Cooperation with partners in high schools and with education principals within the UT
  • Recruitment and information provision about the programme
  • Organisation and a cost-effective implementation of the curriculum plans
  • Internal and external quality assessment and accountability

Requirements

  • Substantial experience with leadership in an academic environment, preferably with educational innovation
  • Sensitivity for diversity in disciplines and cultures, and affinity to technology, science/engineering and humanities
  • Preferably experienced in liberal education (Liberal Arts & Sciences)
  • Vision on academic education and ability to translate strategy in a concrete plan of activities
  • Experienced teacher in various higher education environments
  • Open minded, creative thinker and internal and external networker
  • Excellent in communication, English level: (near) native
  • Experienced in financials and human resource topics

Working conditions

  • a full time appointment in the position of (associated) professor.  Duration of the position is for a period of 5 years.
