The Role
The main objective & responsibilities of the role are to suggest and formulate the infrastructure strategy which this together with the Data/Application Strategy will form the overall IT Strategy which in turn needs to be aligned with the Business Strategy – goals and objectives.
This is a strategic role which requires sound technical expertise in infrastructure design.
Job Description
Development of a High Availability IT infrastructure architecture strategy in response to strategic requirements
Creation, documentation and verification of strategic requirements for the use of IT in the business
Standardising group infrastructure architecture and develop the principles and roadmaps in support of the enterprise architecture. Promoting and supporting the establishment and embedding of best practice in the architecture development processes.
Assesses impact of architectural decisions to product lifecycles and end-user capabilities
Supporting secure communication methods and infrastructure relating to data technologies and maintaining the environment based around WAN, data and ISP platforms
Required Skills & Abilities
Recommend the right infrastructure architecture based on best practises (solid, secure, robust, expandability)
Design of multi-site Disaster recovery as part of the Business Continuity
Ensure systems’ high availability, flexibility, performance and reliability
Knowledge about cloud computing (Infrastructure as a Service, Software and Platform as a Service)
Think out of the box (Be technology neutral and suggest the best possible solution) having as the only driver the best for the Business
Recommend and bring Change wherever is needed and approved by the Board
Able to motivate, engage and persuade (leadership skills) – Both technical and senior-management (Board of Directors)
Expert in designing secure, reliable, supportable, and sustainable computing solutions with the end-user in mind
Experienced in exploitation of systems architectural modelling techniques
Experienced in ITIL processes
Proven track record of resolving highly complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative
Required Education & Qualifications
Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering or Information Technology discipline or closely related technical field. The successful candidate is likely to have an information services background with a proven track record in a similar role.
