The Fluor Energy & Chemicals business line in The Netherlands is seeking motivated people to join the team. An opportunity now exists in our Haarlem office for a qualified senior static equipment engineer to head up the Mechanical Engineering group.

The engineer will be technically responsible for the static equipment for a large variety of international brown field, grass root & revamp facilities for petrochemical, oil, chemical, gas & industrial services. Work comprises of conceptual design, basic engineering, extended basic engineering & detailed design for reimbursable & lump sum projects.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a team of engineers in a multi-discipline project environment. He or she will have well developed communication & interpersonal skills & wants to work in a collaborative project task force, where generating & fostering internal & external client relationships is of high importance.

The engineer will work on various static equipment such as vessels, columns, reactors, tanks, unfired heat transfer equipment, etc. Close interaction & cooperation with world wide equipment suppliers is required.

The senior static equipment engineer will perform the following activities:

  • Calculations for equipment selection and (preliminary) equipment sizing;
  • Preparation of material requisitions for inquiry and purchase;
  • Preparation & review of technical evaluations of supplier bids;
  • Review work of colleague static equipment engineers;
  • Review of supplier drawings & documents;
  • Attend supplier meetings & resolve supplier related issues;
  • Participate in inspections, factory acceptance, delivery to site, site (erection) support and turn-over;
  • Troubleshooting with vendors;
  • Coordinate / interface with engineering disciplines like process, piping, control systems and civil for equipment & facility design;
  • Cooperate with Client and third parties;
  • Plan the execution of the work, track progress & report to the Mechanical Lead Engineer;
  • Train and coach junior static equipment engineers.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME VIII div.1; div.2, EN-13445, AD-Merkblätter, BS, PED, API620, API650;
  • Minimum of 20 years of mechanical engineering experience with Engineering Contractor(s);
  • Minimum BSc in Mechanical Engineering.

  • German language skills are an advantage;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Degree Required.
