DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Applications are welcome from early career scientists with an outstanding track record in the field of:

Epigenetics and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Boehringer Ingelheim is interested in identifying new therapeutic concepts for the treatment of COPD patients. As part of the application process, research project proposals are requested that prove the therapeutic utility of defined epigenetic readers, writers and erasers or targeting non-coding RNAs in the following areas:

  • Prevent tissue destruction and emphysema development;
  • Reverse subepithelial and smooth muscle remodeling;
  • Repair and regenerate the airway epithelial barrier;
  • Control and resolve inflammation;
  • Reverse small airway fibrosis.

Successful proposals will demonstrate the relevance of the molecular targets in test systems derived from COPD patients. Original, unprecedented ideas and unique experimental approaches are particularly encouraged.

The position is intended to suit candidates with typically between four and eight years of postdoctoral experience who would, once established, be in a strong position to enter a leadership career path either in academia or industry.
