Postdoctoral position in energy and climate studies

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Swedens technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes Architecture, Industrial Management and Urban Planning. Job description

Sustainable energy solutions encompass not only efficient and renewable technologies but also the establishment of policy, institutional and market structures to foster new technological alternatives and paths. Energy solutions need to operate realistically and efficiently in the context of dynamic energy markets, stringent environmental and social requirements, and limited resource availability. What solutions can be pursued globally and regionally, which will lead to sustainable development? What are the solutions that will lead to mitigation and adaptation to climate change while also promoting sustainable development? These are central research questions at ECS. The field of research at ECS covers energy and climate studies with a systems approach at global and regional level, and in different country contexts. Policy and market studies, as well as methodological development and modelling of energy are relevant research projects. This post-doc position will contribute to the development of ECS thematic areas of research and on-going projects. We are open to suggestions particularly in the field of energy economics, climate policy, urban sustainability and methodological development for monitoring and promoting sustainable energy systems.

The candidate is expected to contribute to on-going projects, share research results in seminars, publish in peer-review journals together with ECS team, and help in teaching and applications.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, the candidate shall hold a PhD in engineering, economics or equivalent. We prioritize candidates that finalized their PhD during the past three years. High scientific merits with publications in scientific journals are expected. Skills in methodologies that the candidate wants to develop further in cooperation with colleagues at ECS and in the scope of on-going projects is desirable. Experience of interdisciplinary research and policy work is advantageous. We offer an international and multi-disciplinary academic environment that also cooperates with other actors in the private and public sector. Good communication skills and high proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
