Postdoctoral Researcher, Smartphone Sensing of Human Behaviour

The University of Oulu, Finland (http://www.oulu.fi/cse) is hiring 1 Post-doctoral Researcher to work on Smartphone Sensing of Human Behaviour. The post is funded by the Academy of Finland.

The successful candidate will work in the Community Imaging Group (http://comag.oulu.fi). Research will focus on the development of mobile sensing techniques to capture and model human behavior. The work is expected to extend the AWARE framework developed by our group (http://awareframework.com), in the context of a project on cycling and transport.

Our group conducts world-leading research on the development of tools, techniques, and theories to study communities of people through their use of technology. Our research draws on human-computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, social network analysis, behavioural analysis, and data mining techniques.

Description

Candidates should demonstrate extremely strong skills in developing for mobile platforms, particularly Android, and data analysis and machine learning techniques for location-based data. A strong publication record in a relevant field is required. Experience with Human Computer Interaction and Ubiquitous Computing will be a benefit, particularly experience in conducting experimental studies with human participants.

• Start date: February 1st 2015 (negotiable).
• Duration: 2 years (renewable).
• Location of work: Oulu, Finland.
• Eligibility: Must hold a Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Salary: 3200-3600 euros per month (before tax) depending on the qualifications (according to university salary system, teaching and research personnel). A summer bonus of about 1600 euros is paid every July.
