Assistant Director - Engineering Business Development

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Russ College of Engineering and Technology’s Center for Electrochemical Engineering Research at Ohio University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Technical Business Development. The Center for Electrochemical Engineering Research (CEER) is a state-of-the-art research center which has become a prominent destination for both academic and commercial interest in the field of electrochemical engineering. Under the directorship of Dr. Gerardine Botte, CEER is currently the only center in electrochemical engineering recognized by two US prestigious funding agencies (NSF and NIST). CEER has recently expanded to a newly renovated 20,000 sf. facility and possesses over $10 million in state-of-the-art infrastructure. CEER is creating a comprehensive, consolidated hub for electrochemical research – where world-class researchers and high profile industry leaders will come together and utilize the versatile discipline of electrochemical engineering to create marketable solutions for a varying array of issues. The work at CEER has sparked interest in industry and federal agencies that has already outgrown the center’s work capacity. Today, the greatest challenge CEER faces is accommodating the numerous industry partnerships and potential research projects that are awaiting the center’s resources, given the center’s current limitations in operation capacity.

The Assistant Director for Technical Business Development will be a senior member of the CEER group. Working closely with the CEER Director the successful candidate will assist industrial members with solutions and establishing, directing, and executing research and development programs to support industry, mentor graduate and undergraduate students and post-doctoral research associates and lead and coordinate new research activities and opportunities at CEER. The successful candidate will also work with the CEER Director to interface with potential sponsors, create new business alliances with government and industry sponsors; assists in preparation of the future research vision for CEER, and prepare and write major proposals.
