Master & PhD Program in Marine Microbiology, International Max Planck Research School of Marine Microbiology (IMPRS MarMic), Germany (2015)

The International Max Planck Research School of Marine Microbiology (MarMic) is an MSc / PhD graduate program for highly qualified and motivated national and international students. MarMic teaches students to take an interdisciplinary approach to the understanding of marine prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbiology, offering training in physiology, ecology, evolution, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and other related subjects.

MarMic is a joint program of the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology, the University of Bremen, the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, and the Jacobs University Bremen. The unique concentration of so many internationally renowned marine institutes and universities in the immediate vicinity of MarMic offers students an unparalleled education and the opportunity for innovative and interdisciplinary research in:

- Biogeochemistry
- Oceanography
- Microbiology
- Molecular Ecology
- Symbiosis & Parasitism
- Bioinformatics & Modelling
- Virus Ecology

The Marine Microbiology program is intended for students holding at least a first degree (BSc or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, marine biology, oceanography, microbiology, chemistry, molecular biology, geology, biogeochemistry, bioinformatics or related fields. Exceptionally qualified students can begin research for their PhD thesis immediately, provided they have a MSc degree or a Diplom / Staatsexamen. The school language is English.
