11 Funded PhD Studentships in Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh

Available for PhDs in: Politics and International Relations – Sociology – Social Anthropology – Science and Technology Studies – South Asian Studies – African Studies - Social Policy – Social Work – International Development – International Public Health Policy.

The Graduate School of Social and Political Science is offering up to 11 funded PhD studentships in the above disciplines. We have 6 consisting of Home/EU fees and a £14,000 per annum stipend for 3 years; and 5 consisting of Home/EU fees and a £7000 per annum stipend for 3 years.

These studentships are open to all applicants. Overseas applicants are also eligible to apply for Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships to cover the difference in fees.

In addition the School offers a wide range of teaching opportunities to PhD students.

We welcome applicants with a 2.1 equivalent or higher in their first degree and/or a Master’s degree.

The majority of research undertaken at the School of Social and Political Science has been assessed as either 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent' in the Research Excellence Framework 2014 survey of Higher Education Institutes across the UK. You will be joining a large, vibrant community of scholars conducting research of global reach and significance.
