Job Description 

PostDoc Researcher in Control Systems and Biomedical Engineering

The group Modelling, Identification and Control Engineering (MICELab) is seeking 2 PostDoc Researchers to work on the development of an artificial pancreas for control of type 1 diabetic patients. Candidates will be involved in the project SAFE-AP: NEW METHODS FOR AN EFFICIENT AND SAFE DOMICILIARY ARTIFICIAL PANCREAS IN TYPE 1 DIABETES (http://iiia.udg.edu/en/research/42-safe-ap.html), a high-profile research project funded by the Spanish government and other public and private agencies with the participation of leading research hospitals and companies. The main objective of this Project is the development of new methods and tools for efficiency and long-term safety of the artificial pancreas at home. This project will focus on development and validation of control algorithms for fault tolerance and robustness to disturbances.

SAFE-AP project is conducted by the Universitat de Girona and the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain) in collaboration with two leading research hospitals: Hospital Clinic de Barcelona and Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia.

This project is a continuation of research conducted in the project CloseLoop4Meal (http://closedloop4meal.org/).

Salary and terms of employment

Enrolment and salary are according to the Spanish Universities regulations.
€ 25.000,00 - € 31.600,00 € per year (gross amount).

There are two open positions:

  • Position 1: full-time position for 5 years
  • Position 2: full-time position for 2 years

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Control Systems, Biomedical or Computer Engineering. Excellent publication record is required.

Candidates must be enthusiastic and highly motivated to pursue high-level scientific research. In addition to this, excellent communication skills are important for this position and a good command of the English language is required.
