Research Assistant / Research Associate in Many-core and Computing System Design / Verification

University of Bristol

Job number: ACAD101179
Division/School Merchant Venturers' School of Engineering
Contract type Fixed term contract staff
Working pattern Full time
£31,342 - £35,256 (Assistant Grade I), £35256-£39685 (Associate Grade J)

We are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher in EITHER: many-core computing system design; OR many-core computing system verification; OR a role that combines the two aspects. Equal treatment will be given to applications for the three possible roles.

You will bring experience of multi/many-core systems and will be able to offer insights into the direction of the project with respect to the architectural requirements, design and/or many-core system verification.

Areas of focus include the design of custom processors, networks and interfaces, followed by their implementation and evaluation as prototype systems. The target is to produce a working system design that can honour quality of service and safety guarantees for running applications.

System requirements will be used to influence design decisions in order to facilitate system qualification and verification, culminating in the collaborative evaluation of the new architecture and verification techniques.

There will be considerable scope for innovation and design ideas will be evaluated alongside candidates from other project partners. The candidate will be expected to work along-side an existing researcher to complete project tasks.

You will be expected to hold, or be about to hold, a PhD or have relevant industrial experience and will be responsible for the roles outlined below.

This post is offered on a full time, fixed term contract for 12 months extendable to 24 months, dependent on grade, skill-set and start date.

Appointment may be either on a fixed term or a permanent contract depending on the extent of previous relevant research experience, in line with the University’s Fixed Term Contract Agreement. Further information can be found at www.bristol.ac.uk/hr/ftc/
